20th Annual Celebrations of Ophan Train Riders  (Kansas Events)

This June 1-3rd, the National Orphan Train Complex (NOTC) in Concordia, Kansas is hosting our 20th Annual Celebration of Orphan Train Riders. The three-day event will feature Keynote Speaker Andrea Warren, author of two award winning books on the orphan train, “We Rode the Orphan Train” and “Orphan Train Rider: One Boy’s True Story”. Other speakers include Gary Nolan, an orphan train rider descendant who will speak about his experience with DNA genealogy, NOTC Head Researcher, Lori Halfhide, and NOTC Curator, Kaily Carson. Other events include a screening of the PBS American Experience Documentary “Orphan Train”, statue unveilings, and a birthday party. More information can be found on our website,

Jason Felihkatubbe  has been doing genealogical research for over 25 years and his focus is Native American Indian genealogy, with an emphasis on the southeastern peoples–Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muskogeee, and Seminole in Indian Territory/Oklahoma. Apart from research, he has offered lectures and classes on Native American Indian genealogy, culture, and. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. He has been involved with the USGenWeb Project for over 16 years.
